Candy Cane Trader Joe Joes CookiesPopular
A rich cocoa cookie sandwiching an intense peppermint filling and crushed candy canes.

Move over Thin Mints, your cousin visiting for the holidays is way hotter than you, and with her pink and brown colors of the season, a much snazzier dresser as well.

Fans of Trader Joe Joe's cookies already know that this stand-in for an Oreo has the unique ability to be both better tasting and less expensive than its Nabisco inspiration. The filling is lighter and fluffier, and in the case of the creamy vanilla flavor, has obvious flecks of vanilla in the filling.

Candy Cane Joe Joe's are a seasonal offering -- same great, dark cocoa wafers as the existing Chocolate Joe Joe's, but filled with a very bracing peppermint vanilla filling, which has crushed candy canes throughout.

The crushed canes are finely crushed enough not to shred your gumline, but gritty enough to still stand up and be noticed.

This is one "minty" taste combo; very strongly mint flavored, but very much candy cane at the same time. This means it doesn't taste or remind me of toothpaste -- my litmus taste for all mint flavored foods. It is strong enough you won't likely eat an entire handful or a box (a good thing), but not so strong it will create a hip rumor, like Altoids.

Set two out for Santa with a cup of Hot Cocoa, or give them to carolers this season.

I've never been a huge chocolate sandwich cookie fan (Sorry Joe-Joe fans), but these cookies are fantastic. These are definitely going on the thanksgiving dessert table.

i haven't tried the regular joe-joe's but i couldn't resist trying these, and i'm glad because they are quite delicious! they have just the right amount of peppermint flavor, and the cookie part complements the filling perfectly. i also really like the design of the box.

Fantastic!

For someone who loves Chocolate Mint these Candy Cane Joe-Joe's are sublime. Pair them with a cold glass of milk or Trader Joe's Hot Mint Cocoa for a delectable treat.

Southern California is SOLD OUT of the Candy Cane Joe Joe's. 3 stores all had the same story so we have resign ourselves to the sad truth.
An employee in the San Dimas, CA store said, "We had no idea they would be so popular." Really? We did.

They said they didn't manufacture enough and that the warehouse was completely out. I was going to buy them for my daughter's Girl Scouts Christmas Party. I hope they make more next year!

TJ's found about 200 boxes of Candy Cane Joe Joes in the warehouse. So they are in some Southern California stores. Get them while they last.

My girlfriends were visiting from Houston over Thanksgiving and couldn't get enough of these. They each ended up purchasing a box to take home.

uh, yes?

there's SO MUCH FILLING.
it's great. it's somewhere in between the regular amount of filling in an oreo and the double stufs.
it makes me not feel so bad about myself.
the candy cane pieces are a nice touch, as well.

I missed them last year--they were sold out for the season before I could get them. Just picked them up today (early November) and cannot stop eating them. THEY ARE PERFECT.

Beats those "thin mints" any day!

This is now my favorite mint/chocolate cookie. I love the little crunch from the candy cane pieces. I was so bummed last year when they sold out before I could try them so this year I bought them the first time I saw the display. Perfect with a mug of hot cocoa :)

Glad I got two boxes!
Reviewed by LianneNC, 2007-11-23

These definitely beat "thin mints" (and I'm a Girl Scout mom!!). Fortunately, I'm the only one in my family that likes these! I did share some with a coworker and now she's hooked, too. Good thing the new TJ's close to our office opens next week!

Purchased these twice already!
Reviewed by tasteeone, 2007-12-09

At first I wasn't too crazy about them, but the more I ate the more addicted I became. I love the smell of them too, reminds me of peppermint stick ice cream from Brighams or thin mints.
