This is very lowfat (6 grams total), but a little high in sugars for those watching carbs (sauce contains hi fructose corn syrup and sugar). I usually top the dish with some sort of hot sauce to give it a slight kick.
Since I'm always eating this, I have tried olive oil, corn oil, and ghee to stir fry the chicken and vegetables. A teaspoon of ghee gives the best result I think--it does not impart any flavor into the vegetables...corn oil was the worst, and I think olive oil clashes with the sauce a little bit.
Like a lot of other frozen items, this one cooks within 10 minutes.
It is very similar to another frozen item called Asian Chicken Stir Fry. The biggest difference is that this item lacks the snow pea pods, and the noodles are different--these are the good "crinkly" kind which absorb the sauce better I think.

Good Meal

This stuff makes a great meal served with the curried chicken sticks. Two bags serve three adults. The sauce and noodles are fantastic. I think the chicken tastes a little funny, but I'm the only one. My husband and brother disagree.

I thought the chicken had an odd appearance and texture -- it had a scalloped edge that looked like fake meat.
The sauce was much too thick and cloying -- a sugar bath.
The vegetables were not pleasant and the large hunks of red bell pepper overpowered all.
I think this would be popular with kids who love sugar and husbands who will eat vegetables if they are drowning in sauce.
Otherwise, I'll skip this and won't buy it again. I'm better off getting the excellent brick of pre-cooked chow mein noodles from the produce section, adding my favorite veggies, and topping with some of TJ's teriyaki glaze.

Sorry but this just isn't very good. In fact, I'd rather eat top ramen. I really love chicken chow mein usually and was hopeful this would be good. The chicken tastes weird like others said. It has a really strong weird peppery taste that makes it inedible and clashes with the rest of the flavors. The noodles are nothing but frozen ramen. The veggies are mediocre for frozen veggies. The sauce is a soy sugar type nightmare. Do yourself a favor and buy some pre-diced veggies, ramen noodles, meat, and soy vey or nasoya (amazing, vegan, nonTJ) sauce and just do it yourself. It literally will take the same amount of time and as a bonus it'll actually taste great.

it was ALRIGHT at best.
it definitely didn't remind me of any chow mein i've ever had, but it wasn't bad.
i thought that there would be too much sauce, but it ended up being just about right.

I love a good chow mein and being able to put this together for a quick meal is very convenient. The flavors are good but not over the top. I like it just fine and will buy it now and again.

I honestly thought this was the worst chow mein I have ever had.
The noodles were mushy, the sauce was extremely sweet, the chicken tasted like it came out of a test tube, and the vegetables were, well, like the noodles.
I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. :/

Ramen Noodles?

We were very disappointed in this product. We followed the simple directions, yet the noodles took forever to unthaw under "cold water." as directed. It almost felt like we were eating a processed TV dinner.
The overall product was subpar, and well below the Trader Joe's standards that we have become used to. Buyer beware.
