| Fettuccine AlfredoPopular |
This Trader Giotto's frozen pasta is a staple at our house. It comes in 16 oz bags of little nests of fettucine and frozen sauce disks that I call "magic flavor pellets." Your first thought is that Alfredo is heart attack on a plate. Well, it is cream, cheese and butter, after all. Each serving (3 per bag) according to the packaging does has 370 calories, 25g of fat (8g saturated) and 95mg of cholesterol. Typical Alfredo sauce. The beauty of this Fettuccine Alfredo, however, is that you are in complete control of how heavy or light to make the sauce. You can use all or some of the flavor pellets to significantly cut down on the fat and calories and keep the nice Alfredo flavor. In fact, I microwave a few nests at a time with about 1 pellet per pasta nest and it's delicious. When the pasta is gone, I am sometimes left with a dozen or more sauce pellets.
Like I mentioned, this pasta tastes great zapped in the microwave and you are in complete control of the portions. One little pasta nest and flavor pellet also make a quick and yummy side for kids' meals.
