i love the stuff! I bring it to work with me and eat 1/2 of it with whatever i am eating for lunch..usually the other 1/2 gets eaten up by some hungry girl at work! It goes great with stir frys too!

I agree that it looked disappointing, but one nutty tast later...yum!

With 4 kids, this is such a great thing! It comes out perfect every time so I don't even bother making my own anymore. It goes great with any stir fry. The frozen jasmine rice is awesome if you want a white rice.

The rice doesn't have much flavor, so I sprinkle a bit of sea salt over it. One bag is two servings. Keep leftovers in the bag, fold over and stick in the fridge. To reheat, just pop the folded bag in the microwave for 1 minute and you've got fresh rice again. Don't overheat! Sure I could cook brown rice from scratch, but I don't bother.

I use it for stirfrys. Last night I added it to my modified stuffed green pepper recipe. So I cooked it then put in recipe and baked for 45mns--perfect!

I just measured out about 1/2c of this rice and 1/2c of spinach and put it in the microwave for 3min. The result was this awesome green and tender spinach rice! You've gotta try it! Add some Parmesan cheese afterwards and you've got yourself a spinach risotto!

These are great "standbys" to have in freezer. I usually take them out of the box and tuck them into the freezer door pockets to maximize space. My husband is a diabetic and has turned his nose up at brown rice in past but is perfectly happy to sub T.J.'s for any meal.
Seriously, we totally stock this. Not that rice is hard to make in the rice cooker. It's that this is FAST, cheap (enough) healthy and delicious in controlable portions. We have even made additionally bags halfway through dinner.

I never make rice from scratch anymore. This texture is PERFECT, the taste is great and it takes 3 minutes. Done!

I love both the Jasmine and the Brown but really miss the Spanish Rice they had that was in the same type box and frozen. It was just great but was discontinued. Would love to see it come back. I also use the Boil in Bag brown rice when out of this and it is good also but the amount of time needed to prepare this is perfect for me.

I haven't seen this at my Trader Joe's in San Diego for some time now. Hope it's not discontinued! This rice is easy and tasty, though I do agree it needs salt or other seasoning since I love savory rice. To answer the reviewer's question, it can definitely be used in a saute without having to be microwaves or otherwise thawed first, in my experience. But I love to just microwave it for a couple of minutes and serve it as an awesome side with butter and Barbecue Grill and Broil (TJ's spice blend).
This brown rice beats all brown rice that I have attempted to make! The texture is just perfect, and it only takes 3 minutes!

My TJs has also had supply shortages of the frozen brown rice. What I've been told is that the manufacturer was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina and are trying to get back to pre-hurricane levels of production but aren't there yet. They send what they can when they can. So as a result, basically the rice gets snatched up as soon as they get a batch in, as everyone is beginning to hoard it now. Hopefully they will get back to normal soon but for now, expect shortages to be pretty common.

I love my TJ's frozen brown rice. Cooks quickly in either the microwave or stovetop, and has almost a nutty flavor to it. Will never settle for another brown rice. This stuff is the bomb.

Who has time to make brown rice on the stove? This is great with a grilled chicken breast and some veggies in a pinch. In a few minutes, it heats up and tastes fab!
My TJ is always out of it, but when it comes in...I stock up a few boxes in the freezer.

This is seriously good rice; nutty, with just a whisper of sweetness. NOT what you'd expect from a frozen food. Tastes as good as homemade, without taking 45 minutes to cook. It's such a convenience that I'm spoiled.
It's also good in recipes that call for converted or quick-cook rice (which in my opinion tastes abominable).

I always have a box of this in my freezer. It always comes out *delicious* and only takes 3 minutes in the microwave. The organic part makes it even more appealing. Occasionally they run out of it and I'm sad, so I always grab a box whenever I'm at TJ's.
