Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberry Shortcake ready to go! This supremely satisfying dessert is composed of layers of very light sponge cake literally surrounded by whipped cream and layered with strawberry. And it's as great-looking as it is great-tasting. In fact, if it didn't look so perfect, you might be able to pass it off as homemade - It's just that good. Trader Joe's Strawberry Shortcake is made exclusively for us by a premier German bakery and is ideal for birthdays and celebrations, but just as appropriate for family dinners, picnics or anytime at all.

The cake is light and airy, the strawberries taste real and the whipped cream is real. What more could you want? Maybe better packaging. While the plastic tub the cake sits in protects it, it also makes it difficult to remove the cake. TJ's suggests removing the cake while frozen which may help. I'd suggest an inverted top instead. But the cake is very good, will serve maybe four people--or one depending on your mood.

I've been buying Trader Joe's desserts for god-knows-how-long now, and this is possibly one of the best. The tartness of the berries combined with the light cream is heavenly. I do agree with the previous comment that the box is a bit awkward, but the cake itself is so good that I usually just eat it all out of the box in one go.
Trader Joe's, don't stop making these!!!
I second, third, and fourth all the positive comments about this cake. My only complaint is that it's a bit on the small side. The nutrition panel claims it serves 5, but it's more like 2 or 3 servings.
