True to Alsacian culinary tradition... Just kidding, I know nothing about that, but this tart looked really good. My hubby is not a fan of carmelized onions, but he liked it as well. Cooking tip: careful taking it out of the box and putting it in the oven if it defrosts. It gets really flimsy and you are supposed to put it straight on the rack. When it bakes, it stiffens, so it's easy to take out. Eat it while it's warm, otherwise the dough gets hard. Not good leftovers, but hey, it's 8oz and so delicious, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Very onion-y but so yummy

When I have people over, I pop this in the oven as they enter, then serve it hot with a little white wine before the salad course.
Boy, I just made me and my gang seem real classy.

I found a new addition to my favorites list. Bakes up quick and easy with a central european taste. I think the creme fraiche is what really makes it stand out. Definitely worthy of a taste taste.

These are absolutely authentic tasting. Just like what we ate in the open air cafes in the Alsace region of France, next to the German border -- they call it Pflammkuchen there and they are cooked in stone ovens. This has to be one of our all-time favorites.

This is absolutely delicious, so much so, that it makes me wonder why other frozen foods can't be this good. The buttery, crisp crust is sublime. If I was served this at a lunch place, I would go back for it every week. Easily my favorite thing in the freezer section.

Ham, Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions... what's not to like? This is a great, lighter alternative to pizza, and I'll definitely be buying it again.

Calories anyone?

I wish some of these reviews had calorie counts. I read them, salivate, then go to buy them and see they're out of my range - calorie wise. Anyone know the calories of this one? It sounds too good to be anything but a "once in a while treat".

lol, forgot to say, couple things i sometimes do to them:
bit of fresh ground pepper (specially the four pepper blend we sell) right after u take it out of the oven is REALLY good. gives it a different taste.
also, sometimes i put defrosted salad shrimp on it. LOVE the texture.

I burned the bottom horribly! I followed the directions, put it directly on the rack at 475 degrees. 5 minutes later the bottom was black and when I opened the oven door the fire alarm went off! Despite all that, when I scratched off the burned points, and broiled up the top it was delicious :) I'll definitely be buying it again, but maybe try 450 and on a cookie sheet this time. I'm in new apartment with a small-ish oven so perhaps that has something to do with what went wrong.

This was like something you'd get in an expensive restaurant "bistro" -- the pastry crust is amazingly flaky and light, and the ingredients are yummy. Put it in the oven and serve with greens for a light meal or a hot app -- people will think you are so sophisticated and really it was inexpensive and easy!

Ohmigod. Here's how I find is the best cooking technique:
(1) While tarte is still in freezer, preheat oven to 475, putting a baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch any cheese drips.
(2)Once oven is preheated, wait another ten minutes
(3)Take tarte from freezer and place directly on top/middle rack
(4)Check after 7 minutes; I prefer to leave it in for 10. Sometimes I turn off oven after seven
(4)Slide it with tongs onto cutting board
(5)Wait a couple minutes
(6)Cut with pizza roller
Try not to eat the whole thing yourself - but good luck with that.
Goes great with white wine.

In case anyone is still wondering, it's 150 calories per quarter- which means that half of the tart is only 300 calories or 6 Weight Watchers points. Pair it with a salad and it's a really reasonable dinner, nutrition-wise. And of course it's delicious!
