This stuff is great. How can you beat the price -- $1.99 for either shampoo or conditioner. Sweet and tangy citrus smell of grapefruit, sweet organges and lemon! I've used condition costing 10x as much and Refresh is just as good -- for all hair types. The conditioner is light so it gives you great shine without weighing down your hair. The shampoo removes products and buildup without drying out hair. Highly recommended -- and try the Refresh hand lotion while you're at it!

The shampoo smells great and does a fabulous job getting hair clean. It works well on my thick curly hair as well as my husband's fine hair. A good buy at $1.99!

I totally agree with helofan. With all the chemically and detergent laden, bad-for-your-hair and skin shampoos out there that cost a silly amount of money, you just can't go wrong with natural Refresh shampoo or conditioner at $1.99 a bottle. And as an added bonus, it really lit up my blonde highlights. I'm guessing because of all the chamomile.
I've never encountered a Trader Joes beauty product I didn't love- until I found this one!
The smell was great and the ingredients were equally great, so I tried it out; it butchered my hair! I stopped using it a full month ago and my hair still feels stripped. While I was using it my normally oily hair was really tangly, dry and not at all shiny or soft.
I don't know why it did this to my hair, but I'm staying far, far away from it from now on!

I had the same problem as the other user. The conditioner especially left my hair with a stripped feeling. My hair was exceptionally tangly and dried out. But it stopped when I stopped using it.

I used to buy those large pump jugs of shampoo until I discovered Trader Joe's Refresh shampoo & conditioner. Not tested on animals, inexpensive, smells great, rinses clean, & doesn't upset my allergies one bit. There's also a Refresh body wash which doubles perfectly as a soft soap for hand washing. None of these products make my skin dry either. Great product.

The shampoo and conditioner are good enough. They get your hair clean and they smell wonderful, but it left my hair very dry.
I reccomend the Refresh body wash, though.

I liked the citrus smell of this conditioner and the price is great too, but like other users, I notice that my hair doesn't get really soft after use. I'm glad that my hair doesn't get super oily like some conditioners make it, but this conditioner made my hair feel a bit rough. I probably won't get it again.
I usually love all the TJ's products, esp. their beauty ones. I have used the herbal shampoo and conditioner set, as well as the Balancing set, and was quite pleased with both. I then picked this stuff up, washed my hair and realized I finally had found the dud in the TJ's beauty section. This stuff left my thick wavy hair in a tangled mess like NOTHING I have ever used on it before. My hair was literally matted. I had to slather leave-on conditioner on the tragedy that was my hair and pull and tug my way to a better head-state. It hurt so bad I had tears streaming down my face. Seriously, I have never had my hair so tangled. This stuff is ridiculous and should come with a warning label or, even better, should stopped being sold altogether.

It occured to me, that hairdrying your hair after using this product, may help make your hair very dry and rough. Maybe this product would work for someone that doesn't have thin, fine hair, and doesn't blow dry their hair? Just a thought

This stuff works great on my straight, fine hair. I do notice that the shampoo is not as slick as other brands and it tangles a bit after rinsing it out. The conditioner adds just enough softness and detangling. To be honest, I don't want my hair to be super-soft. It's so fine that "soft and silky" equals "limp and flat" and I can't get it to do anything. This removes all the garbagey product build-up and leaves my hair feeling light, clean and full of body.
