This is a good drink in and of itself, but we buy it to make Dark & Stormies (see recipe.) It's 25% fruit juice and has 26 grams fresh ginger (bottle says "STRONGER GINGER BITE" ha ha.)
They have info and recipes on their website: http://www.reedsgingerbrew.com

The only way to describe this drink would be "dry, carbonated ginger juice." Maybe the problem is in the name itself---you expect something "beer-ish" and it isn't even close. There is NO WAY that I could drink this without mixing it with something else....and that might take some courage!

I lived on this stuff freshman year in college. Such a strong ginger bite, it's great. carbonated, but not too much so like soda. A great thing, it comes in a 4 bottle pack.

Reed's Ginger Brew has ginger with a honey aftertaste. No, it's not "beer" in the sense you expect, but it's a unique beverage and when chilled, is one heck of a temptation.

Reeds is the best ginger beer I've found, with a strong ginger flavor, and a little bite. Nothing like insipid ginger ales.
Ginger beer is not "beer" as in hops and alcohol (any more than ginger ale is ale in that sense), but beer as in other non-alcoholic brewed beverages, such as root beer, dandelion beer, or apple beer.

I have enjoyed ginger since a child and always liked the stronger ginger bite of ginger beer as opposed to ginger ale. If you want to make a Dark n' Stormy, try Cruzan's Black Strap rum or Goslig's dark rum, not the light rum Reed's recommends.

As you can tell by my name, I like ginger and this is a big hit of it--not for anyone who is ambivalent about ginger. It is beer in the sense that root beer is beer--non-alcoholic. But tasty!
