Chili Spiced MangoPopular
These are the best thing that Trader Joe's has put out in the dried fruit and nuts section in a long time. The mango is sweet and chewy but the twist is, is that is dusted with a chili powder mixture. This product may be too hot for some but if you enjoy sweet and spicy this is a nice alternative to candy.

Polarizing Snack

This is one of those foods that people either love or hate.

When I bought my first bag of Chili Spiced Mango last week, the cashier asked me if I'd tried it before. When I replied that I hadn't, he explained that a lot of people dislike this product--and if I turned out to be one of them, I should ask for a refund.

At the time, I thought he was being sort of overprotective. But now that I've tried this product, I understand.

IDoubt I'll ever ask for a refund, but I won't buy another bag, either. I'll just serve Chili Spiced Mango to my friends until I find someone who likes it.

Who knew I liked dried fruit?
Reviewed by gbo, 2006-05-17

I don't do trail mix. I don't do cereal with fruit in it. I thought I didn't do dried fruit at all...until I unwittingly tried one of these (from an open bag sitting on a friend's coffee table). Now I'm addicted. I convince myself its fruit so it can't be that bad for me. Given how often I polish off these bags, its good that I have this particular excuse in place. If you love the flavor of cayenne pepper...with a little something sweet, definitely try this.

LOVE 'em

Slices of sweet dried mango, kicked up with a paprika/cayenne dusting.
You put one in your mouth and your brain does the happy dance. Is this hot? Is this sweet? Yes...Oh, yes!!!

Me? I'd be happy if they were even a little bit hotter, but I LOVE 'em!

Not for me

This is one of those TJ products you either love or hate. I just don't like it. I loved the regulard un-sulfur sweetened mango strips but I haven't seen them on the shelf for a while. As for the chili spiced mango, I'll pass. I hear they taste like mexican candy..

Awesome

I just got back from TJ's and picked up the chile spiced mango snack. I opened the bag in the car and could not stop eating them. I love this product. I recently moved from AZ to CT and this treat makes me think of the southwest. A lot of Mexican candies are sweet and spicy so the combo is very nostalgic for me. I love many products at TJ's and food in general, but there are few things I would actually write a review on. Pretty spicy for those who may be sensitive to that, but for anyone who loves spicy/sweet this is the treat for you.

Best dried fruit snack ever.

Absolutely delicious sweet, spicy, salty, chewy combination. My only beef is a that the TJ's version are cut very thin. I've had them from a wholesale company that I do business with and they were exactly the same except sliced about two to three times thicker resulting in a much chewier, less lethery texture. Either way, these are still fantastic.

I really like this product. If you're feeling adventurous, chop up the mango slices and sprinkle them generouly on vanilla ice cream.

Ok.. Just Ok...

I don't know.. its the chili flavoring for me. Its flat and canned tasting I think. If it had a little more depth I'd be buying these things every week. As it stands, I'll finish the bag & probably forget about 'em.

LOVE IT

I love spice and I love mango so I couldn't be happier. If kind of tastes like Tamarindo (a mexican candy people either love or hate) . . . I just hope TJs keeps it around, because I'm addicted.

A second chance...

I work for the store and vehemently loathed these at first...enough that I literally opened a bag for every customer that came to the register with them, just so they didn't wonder what they'd gotten themselves into...

However, my manager suggested I cover em' up with some of our vanilla gelato...that's one fantastic dessert!

I live in Canada; we don't have Trader Joe's here, so whenever I visit my sister in Seattle I stop by and stock up on my favourites (...she thinks I come down to see Joe, not her!). I found these on my last trip down in December, and I wish I'd bought more than just one bag 'cause I can't get enough - the chewy texture, and the spicy-sweet reminds me of those great little Mexican candies. I hope they keep these around!

I absolutely love these! I'm a California transplant living in New England and I'd been missing the sweet/spicy candies (mango, sandia and pollo asado chupas) and chile/limon mangoes you could find at all the best flea markets in Northern California. No more!! If a touch pricey (but worth every penny), these fit the bill. A great taste of home.

I didn't think I would like this when I first saw it but for the price, I decided to try it. WOW, this was good!

I really like the sweetness of the mango and the slight heat and maybe a slight saltiness(?) from the chile powder.

I tried these at the store one day-- They used brie cheese wrapped in the pastry dough, served topped marscapone cheese mixed with apricot jam, and then a slice of this on top. It's really rich and filling, it was really good honestly I would probably do with out the double dose of cheese again but it was nice to see this incorporated with something creamy. I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.

Love it

I was shocked that such a tiny bag contains something like seven servings -- these things are so good that you can't only eat one or two in a sitting. If you don't like the first bite, I encourage you to eat a little more... they definitely grow on you.

They're certainly not for people who dislike spicy food. I didn't think they were overwhelmingly hot, but my wife thought they were disgusting. She's pretty sensitive to spicy foods, though.

My two favorite items all rolled into one! I love the sweet and spicy combo. I haven't seen them in my local TJ's store for a while and just spoted them last week. U better believe I grabbed a bag. Great for a sweet tooth when you don't want the extra calories/fat
