Berry Mango Bran Whole Grain Muffins(28 votes)Rate this listing These low fat muffins have chunks of mango as well as cranberries and blue berries in them. They are moist and not too sweet. A large muffin (138 grams) has just 5 grams of fat and 220 calories. They are made with wheat bran and whole wheat flour and pack 10 grams of fiber in each. I sampled one in my local Massachusetts store and was told by the store captain that they are not seasonal, but may be in the East coast stores only because bakery items are typically locally made to be fresh, so they may not be available in your area. WHYYYY CAN'T THEY HAVE THIS IN CALIFORNIA?
ps. for anyone that knows, is this comparable to something zen bakery bakes? byhkrz423, February 2, 2007
Tried them. Moist yes, but where's the mango?

they look like the zen bakery muffins, except the small zen ones have 80 cal's and i think 7 grams of fiber

These are good & filling but there's usually one/two pieces of mango per muffin. It needs more. I think the Blueberry Raspberry muffins are MUCH better

I used to eat a big muffin from the coffee shop every morning with my iced latte. At about 1000 calories a pop, I wasn't doing my waistline any favors. Enter the Trader Joe's Bran muffin selections. As stated above, these have tons of fiber, whole wheat and even some protein, only 200-odd calories and no artificial sweeteners!! These muffins along with TJ's volcano coffee have altered my breakfast permanently. My wallet and my skinny jeans thank me.

They have several flavors of these muffins available, all of them delicious. The mango ones are very tasty when you actually get a piece of mango! On the East coast, the mango pieces were tiny but on the West Coast, the pieces were larger, go figure.
I've posted about them and the best way to eat them on my blog: http://peanutbutterboy.blogspot.com bytlr311, March 14, 2008
I was anxious to try these after reading all the comments here, but I'm afraid I was not too thrilled with them. While I was expecting them to be as moist as they looked, they were sadly lacking. Very dry.
I believe these are the exact same thing as the Zen Bakery muffins for us West Coasters--certainly the look, calorie count, fiber, and ingredients are identical.
I actually prefer the taste and texture of the fiber cakes. The muffins aren't muffin-y enough for me, and they always seem TOO moist, bordering on soggy. bySimple and Divine, September 5, 2008
The 80 calorie mini-muffins, by ZEN (aka "Fibercakes") are actually packed with 13 (!!!!) Grams of Fiber and 5 grams of protein! Yeah. That's real.
(Has anyone tried them yet?)
Sure, I'd rather have a big ol' chocolate chip muffin from Starbuck's or a bakery instead but I'd regret it. I've never found a piece of mango. On the other hand, I could swear that I'm tasting mango and that made me wonder if they're using mostly mango pulp rather than pieces.
