Brown Rice MedleyA blend of long-grain brown rice, black barley and daikon radish seeds. An unusual combination that only Joe's could invent! But it's a great medley.Submitted on 03/24/2006 by nancoix Number of people who have "favored" this: 0 Read all 17 reviews below -OR-Add your own reviewReviews (17)

great rice. one bag makes a lot of rice. definately enough for a big family.

really nice texture and flavor. goes great with any meal. it also is healthier than just brown or white rice.

The radish seed doesn't have a radish taste, but it puffs like quinoa or wild rice. I think it would be even better with some roasted nut & sliced dried fruit in it, like a pilaf.

very good hearty tasting rice, i gave it 4 out of 5 stars for the simple fact it takes awhile to cook but well worth it, i suggest cooking in chicken stock, de'lish

This stuff is excellent. Try simmering some fresh veggies in soy sauce and putting it on top of the rice.

I've just started eating brown rice the last year, and I have tried dozens of different kinds. Out of curiosity, I bought this brown rice and was amazed! It's the best brown rice mix I've ever had! It's nutty, sweet, chewy, and has a great texture. I'll make several servings with some stock and it keeps great in the fridge for a few days and it freezes great too!

don't tell me this has been discontinued???? I went to 3 stores and no rice medley. They've even taken down the sign. I should have stocked up.

Sooo good, firm but still chewy, great taste, fun to eat!

I just discovered this rice a few months ago, and it is THE BEST! Great cooked with cubed chicken and diced tomatoes and green chilies. It was also excellent with the Mojito sauce I loved, before it was discontinued, also. All of my family's favorites are disappearing!
Wonderful! Cooked rice in organic beef broth. Browned & cooked pot roast, S&P garlic, added carrots, celery, onion. Served rice with the brow aujus, beef and veggies on side. Added sauted mushrooms when served with leftovers. Excellent texture, flavor, nutrition! Yum!

Only trader joe's could come up with such a great combination. I used it in my Thanksgiving Habanero Stuffing with great results, since then I have used it anywhere I would use plain brown rice. Last week it was stuffed peppers, again the texture was fantastic. I have gone to making huge batches of the stuff and freezing it in small quantities to have on hand.

When I cook this, I use a can of low salt chicken broth, a teaspoon of olive oil, and at least garlic chips or fresh garlic, if not some fresh onions, to add a great deal of flavor. Otherwise it is pretty bland.

This stuff is great. It takes some getting used to if you normally eat white rice. I love the chewy texture and the nutty flavor. White rice seems boring to me now. I like to prepare this in my rice cooker with a bit of bouillon, some soy sauce, and a splash of olive oil. Yum!

Love this blend. Wish it had more barley. I always saute an onion and garlic into it, and then depending on my mood or whats in my pantry add additions from there. I added the dried mixed wild mushrooms from TJs with truffle oil. Divine!

This stuff is delicious. Who would have thought of daikon seeds? I mix it with heartier canned soups that have a rice base (think gumbo) and it is just fantastic.
