Chimichurri RiceThis stuff is awesome. It's basmati rice seasoned with peppers, ginger, creme fraiche, cilantro, and garlic. It can be heated in the microwave in 5 minutes. It also has peas and tomatoes in it as well. It's kind of spicy so those that don't like that may not like this dish. Pretty good for a frozen side dish.Submitted on 06/15/2006 by wackywanda Number of people who have "favored" this: 0 Read all 21 reviews below -OR-Add your own reviewReviews (21)
Tastes really good with some chicken thrown in for a heartier meal. This product has good flavor.

I love spicy food, but holy moly, this rice will make your mouth buzz. I agree with the previous review that chicken would go really well with this rice...maybe some plain poached chicken to off-set the spiciness. I generally don't have much luck with TJ's frozen bagged entrees, but I would buy this again. It piqued my curiosity in Peruvian food!

What a wake up to the taste buds!!!
It went well with Country Rib meat though!!! Start with small servings! ;-) byMZPREC1OUZ, February 2, 2007
It tastes good with Trader Joe's roasted corn

This tastes great. Especially good with a grilled steak.

The first forkfull I took of this I choked a bit, I think because it was such a sudden and unexpected 'wakeup call' to my taste buds.
This is a fantastic rice dish. It dresses up even the most ordinary meal, and it's good enough to serve to company. I did just that last night when I prepared a roasted Trader Joe's organic chicken that had been marinated with oranges and their juice, fresh bay leaves, fresh rosemary, and garlic. Along with fresh green beans Almondine -- a fabulous -- and easy -- meal, which our guests loved.
This reminds me of the food I ate on a trip to Ecuador. Mmmm, the food was so good there. It's uber-convenient too since it's frozen. Just through it in a skillet, add some oil, and voila!

After reading the comments I had to try this rice. We had it with grilled flank steak and it was a perfect side dish...our guests loved it!

I love this product! It's spiciness is cooled down just enough by the addition of creme fraiche :(sorry vegans). Warning - if you don't like heat or you don't like cilantro, stay away. For all the rest of us...chow down!!

just had this tonight, I'm very carb-cautious but i couldn't resist tasting just a bite. let me tell you, one bite and that's all it took. I'll deff have to cheat on my diet every now and then for this stuff
This rice has great flavor and spice levels. It tastes pretty fresh for being frozen too. Great with chicken.

I sampled this in one of the TJ stores and my taste buds were totally enthralled. I'm surprised that frozen rice reheats so well. I love serving it with salmon. Keep it coming!

WackyWanda is right, this rice is terrific! Great product Trader Joe's!

I make a ham stock, add a bit of ham cut in small bits, and dump in a bag of this rice. We prefer it "stew like" with just a bit of broth and then top it all off with a healthy dollop of Plain 0% Fage yogurt. A can of black beans would also be good.
bykissyboots, February 15, 2009
Love love love this stuff, and agree it's mad spicy. A bit of sour cream stirred in makes it creamier and takes the edge off. You can use 0% Fage if you're one of those people that watches fat content. (I'm not, it's good for your skin!)

I love spicy food, and I love cilantro, but I couldn't stand this. It tasted and smelled like vomit to both me (spice lover) and my father (will eat anything). I made this as a side dish for pork chops and spinach, and no one ate it! I ended up throwing it all away. Will not buy again. This is the one TJ's product I've tried that I unequivocally dislike.

I fry seitan or another meat sub, then cook this in the same skillet and mix for a tasty vegetarian main dish. Sometimes I top with a dab of sour cream and sliced avocado. Mmmmm...

for an outstanding, quick, yummy meal!
Fabulous side dish. It is a little spicy and is bursting with flavor. It goes great with grilled chicken.
