Ice Cream Bon Bons

These are a big hit around here. They consist of an ice cream center-either chocolate or vanilla- on top of a cookie/cake layer, and enrobed in dark chocolate. I like to let them melt a bit inside since biting into frozen ice cream is too much for me. The melted ice cream will stay in the bon bon as long as the shell is intact.

I'm not sure why I don't care over much for these. They are not bad. They are not great. They actually were kinda "blah." The vanilla has little flavor, that's part of it.

When I bite into a vanilla Trader Joe Joe's cookie, it's a big burst of vanilla flavor. Even the creme filling has flecks in it. Not true of this bon bon -- the vanilla is white and that's about it -- no pronounced vanilla flavor.

The chocolate coating is neither rich nor waxy. It just tastes "brown" to me.

The cookie base looks dark, like an oreo would be, and probably provides the most flavor, but isn't as flavorful as the chocolate Trader Joe Joe's cookie.

Again, they were not terrible, but they just were not great. I see no reason to buy them again.

FYI: One bon bon is 60 calories, 3.5 fat and 6 carbs, each. Good for portion control if you can limit yourself to just one or two. I could.

I took a box to our monthly wine club and they were gone in a snap!! Faster than the chocolate dipped strawberries!!
These are really good - not an amazing flavor, but still a good dessert. What I love about them most is the small size. It's easy (for me) to just eat one and be satisfied, rather than scooping out some ice cream and probably eating too much.

i tried the chocolate ice cream bon-bons. what was nice was that they were small, but perfectly proportioned. i felt satisfied with just eating one. they were very rich though, and mine were a little freezer-burned. the cookie was the most chocolatey and flavorful part.

These Bon Bons are awesome! I see a few people have posted they can limit themselves to just one...How do you do it? The whole box was almost gone on the way home from TJ's...

These are always a hit when I serve these. I think people just like the idea of ice cream as hand-food. They are better when they sit out for a bit and the ice cream softens up.
Love, love, love TJ's ice cream bon bons! Chocolate, Ice Cream and Cookie -what's there not to love about this decadent - portion control treat.... only 60 calories too! Yummy!
wow. This product is perfect. Not to sweat, just perfect in every way. The right size, the right texture, and the chocolate is amazing. The ice cream also isn't to sweat....love them
We had a "ladies night" and the girls (including myself) ate these up! I brought both chocolate & vanilla- the chocolate ones were very rich and fudgy-yum !!!!
They are small (can't eat just one) but oh so good. Not an overly vanilla ice cream taste - but the cookie/cake bottom & chocolate dipped part make it a great little treat (if you are watching your servings) Highly Recommneded!
