Mandarin Orange Chicken MealCook frozen Mandarin Orange Chicken according to packge directions. Nuke 1 pack frozen white rice. Add canned mandarin oranges, sliced toasted almonds, serve with chicken. You can add juice from orange can to sauce for chicken for more orange-y flavor. A big hit with my customers at TJ store #647!Submitted on 08/28/2006 by dp4636 Number of people who have "favored" this: 0 Read all 4 reviews below -OR-Add your own reviewReviews (4)
When I make this, I thaw the sauce with hot water, and then add the sauce to the chicken while stil lin the pan. Makes the sauce and chicken bond much better and gives the sauce a "cooked" flavor rather that just being hot.

Put the chicken into a pan, heat it in the oven or on top of the stove and just toss the sauce in at the last minute. The chicken & pan are hot enough to heat the sauce and you save a step. That's how I demo it at my TJ's.
We sell this stuff so fast we have a hard time keeeping it in stock! byNetaris, September 8, 2006
I feel like there is something missing from the taste. I can't put my finger on it, but there is just something that could be added. It is very good though as an alternative to the General Tsao's chicken in a Chinese restaurant. We like it with the TJ's fried rice for an easy and quick meal.

I tried the sauce that came with product and wasn't so crazy about it. So I bought Trader Joe's Gen Tso's sauce and loved it!! I buy several bags a month.
