Mashed Potatoes(34 votes)Rate this listing Frozen lumps of mashed potatoes... I just had to buy these out of curiosity. Yes, yes, they are "instant potatoes" but how did they compare to the real thing and the flakes? What a pleasant surprise! MUCH better than instant (don't trust those flakes anyway) and close enough to the real thing. I mean, you can still tell they are premade but they are so hot, fresh and delicious right from the microwave, I would say these are a no brainer, especially if you have kids and need stuff in your fridge that's ready in a jimmy. Another major bonus is that you can totally control the portion, unlike regular instant potatoes. Submitted on 02/21/2006 by jovanna

I have found many uses for these. I normally wouldn't eat mashed potatos due to the time it takes to prepare. These are so easy. I wish TJs would use butter instead of margarine though.

These are awesome. I like to add a little bit of bacon, cheese, sour cream, and green onions to them to make my own version of "smashed potatoes". These are great because you can heat up as little or as much as you would like. YUM
Make with whole milk or, better yet, half and half. Add some horseradish when serving with beef.

I prefer using these to making the mashed potatoes from scratch. love it as my easy step in making shepherd's pie!

Great product and like the others here for the low price its a great way to have Mashed Potatoes if you wish without the mess and work. After reading the posting here I will see how milk products work instead of the water.

By my title I mean who knew it could taste so good! I mean when we think of frozen mashed potatoes we think of the bland tasting ones we get in those preservative full frozen dinners we all ate one time or another. But these taste SO fresh and there are some lumps which makes it taste homemade. I add some roasted garlic to it and you have a fabulous side dish that will surely impress!

These are a good substitute for home made mashed potatoes. Not a healthy choice, either way, but we all like to eat our favorites once in a while. Need salt and pepper at the minimum.
I should have taken my own advice and read the label. The second ingredient listed on the bag is margarine which contains trans fat. Although the nutritional contents label lists 0 grams of trans fat I am leery and will forego these (sigh). Darn.

I live alone so this is a great way to have mash potatoes for one. I plan to try some of the add-ons recommended here, the bacon and sour cream additions are first on my list.

I have to say these are great! I mixed in some blue cheese and chives and used them to make 'steakhouse shepherds pie' I was very happy with them and they cut the prep time in half. I normally whip or smash my own yukon golds but this is a great product to have on hand. I too wish they used butter instead of margarine...

If you add some of the Double Gloucester with onions and chives it tastes just like the twice baked potatoes you find at steakhouses!

I always have a bag of these in my freezer. It's so nice to have almost homemade tasting mashed potatoes in about 10 minutes. Like other posters, I also wish they had not used margarine. It would have been better to not use anyting at all, than to use that. The bag says 0 grams of trans fat, which means they can't have used much margarine.

I've been using these potatoes for years and find them a truly versatile staple. In addition to a great side dish, you can add a few of the frozen chunks to soups and stews to thicken and add flavor. You can't beat the price on these, either!
We all know the best is the real deal mashed potatoes, which is time consuming for busy families....this frozen bag is excellent! Better than any instant version I have tried! This is a keeper!
