Peach Sauce

This is wonderful! I was expecting a product with the consistency of applesauce, but tasting like peaches. As it turns out, it's not so much a sauce as semi-crushed pieces of peach sitting in juice. And I love it. Perfectly sweet--while it would be healthier if they didn't add sugar, I really can't complain, since they got the taste just right. I find it's best eaten alone, but also very good on nachos or latkes (and probably on many other things I haven't tried yet). I didn't like it so much on ice cream, to my surprise.

This one makes the list of my favorite Trader Joe's items. My only dilemma is what to buy next time. Do I buy this great product again, or do I try another (pear, apricot, or mango sauce)? A common problem with Trader Joe's... :)

Love this stuff. I go to TJ's specifically to get it. It's like none other - a unique kitchen commodity. Goes best IMHO with vanilla yogurt.

Have been told by 3 locations in my area that this item has been discontinued. Per e-mail from Trader Joe's it was a slow moving item. Very disappointing...it is a great item.

This is one of my favorite TJ products.
I use it on my oatmeal every morning and as a filling for turnovers. I was crushed to find out that it's being discontinued by TJ's in Westfield, NJ.
I, and all my family and friends are now searching for the last of the truckloads that may still be available. Say it ain't so Joe!!!
This wonderful product has been discontinued due to lack of sales. If you miss it as much as I do, please let Trader Joe's know.
Thank you
From a letter written to TJ's:

It is with great sadness that I write this email to my friends at Trader Joe's. Alas- to my great surprise - when I made a special voyage to my local commissary to purchase the sacred Peach Sauce, I discovered it had been discontinued due to lack of sales.

Please bring back the succulent goodness that was your Peach Sauce! I know I speak for many who remain silent on this issue.

If I can be of any assistance in this campaign to restore Peach Sauce to its rightful place on the shelves next to the (perhaps) more glamorous items such as Gravenstein Apple Sauce or Trader Giotto's Tomato Basil Marinara Sauce, please contact me at the address herewithin.

Thank you for your consideration.

I ate it with plain and rather bland tasting oatmeal. It was so good..it made oatmeal my everyday morning meal..and for snacks to.I swear i gained 5 pounds eating this during the winter. It really rocks with apple cinnamon raisin oatmeal. It was almost unfair how good that was. When I go to different TJ's I'm always hopeful it might be there..but alas..its not(sad face).

The short: "Bonne Maman Peach Compote" is the exact Peach sauce TJ's imported from France.

The long: We loved TJ's Peach Sauce and spent time tracking down the original supplier. The TJ jar says "Made in France" and the glass is imprinted with the name "Andros". Sure enough, Andros is a french company that makes fruit sauces. We emailed the company, they told us that the name of the sauce supplied to TJs is "Compotes de Pêches" (Peach Compote) and sold under the brands Andros and Bonne Maman, although the TJ's quality is Bonne Maman.

Where to find it? American Marketing team (www.worldfiner.com) exports it. Use their distributor list (http://www.worldfiner.com/distributors.html) to find a local distributor who can point you to a retailer.

We found a store online (search for "compote" at Spec's: www.specsonline.com) and ordered a case of 12 for $70 plus $30 shipping. Excellent service, but you'd be better off finding a local store, as shipping is expensive.

It's EXACTLY the same sauce, and so very nice to have again!
