Prig Khing Green Beans
These are delicious and easy to make. I find the sauce addicting! Very easy to make, and a good way to liven up boring green beans.

The cooking sauce clears my sinuses as it smokes, but once it's time to eat the beans, it's not nearly as firey as it smells, although it is strong taste, so it's best to pair this with something mild (baked fish or chicken).

I think they cook best with ghee--a tablespoon of ghee will cook half the bag.

I agree... these are a wonderful way to eat green beans. The accompanying sauce packet(s) look and smell spicy but really are just very bold in flavor. They do have a *little* kick but nothing offensive. Even my toddler likes them

My 14 yo son made these green beans up for me as part of a Mother's day meal for me. They were delicious. I love that they are easy enough for a new cook to try them out. The whole family enjoyed them.

I will pick them up again . . . maybe I can get my son to cook again for me.
Just cut open the bag, and put them in a hot pan. I ate half the bag with a meal, so portion-wise one bag is about two large servings.

really spicy and flavorful. really unexpected and saucy. Awesome product!
I love these!, Quick and easy and a great variation to plain old side of grean beans.
I tried them once in the classic holiday recipe for "Green Bean Casserole" and it was fab-u-lous! I used only half the sauce and just mixed it into the cream of mushroom soup. Everyone raved and we now call it the "kickin green bean casserole"

I'm in a dorm and I practically live off this and frozen broccoli since dorm food is disgusting. The smell is a bit strong, but they're soooooooooooooo good. I can eat a bag a day. And they're so easy, just pop them in the microwave.

They taste sort of like gan bien si ji dou (I'm not very good with pinyin) but it really reminds me of that dish, just not as greasy.

These are fantastic! I've tried making the same dish at home using prig khing paste from the Korean grocery, but it turns out too fatty and spicy. The TJ's version is healthy and perfectly spiced. I only wish they hadn't been out the last 3 times I went!

These are fabulous! Flavorful but not hot. We were going to use these in place of our usual green bean recipe for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but our TJ's has been out of them since early November. I hope they come back soon, even my picky teenager likes them. Easy, tasty and healthy, what more could you want?

Tried half a bag and I will never make these again. A friend came into the house almost half an hour after I cooked them and commented that my kitchen smelled like garbage.

They taste about as good.

I love these green beans. My Trader Joes has been out of them since November. Does anyone know when they will return???
bybgyes, January 29, 2007
I just heard that these beans have been temporarily discontinued! They are one of my favorite TJ's products. Pleeeeeeease bring them back!
Where did u hear that??? Should I race to my nearest TJ's & start haording bags of them????
I add a bag of shrimp or leftover steak and a little fish sauce to make the sauce stretch and some jasmine rice and it takes no time and everyone at my house demolishes it==I have to make 2 bags at a time!
Throw some cubed tofu in while you are cooking them and you have a pretty healthy yummy meal. Mmm....

I did not care for these the sauce was funny. Husband ate almost the entire bag though.

I was so happy to find these in our T.J.'s today and got an unexpected bonus when the check-out gal told me to try adding a little Peanut butter when cooking and it really smooths out the spiciness (nothing wrong in my mind with the spice but you know not everyone likes it!) So I cannot wait to try a little dab of the peanut butter sounds glorious!
Cooks fast, so don't be careful not to over cook!

I cook the shrimp separately, add almonds to the beans while they're cooking with the included sauce, and combine all.

Like other's have suggested, I add TJ's slivered almonds, cubed tofu & I also add scrambled egg for a quick and very tasty and healthy Thai-Style meal.
byooftus goofus, October 24, 2007
Wasnt sure I would like these since they are thai-style,but I did, just sauteed the beans in oil until they were limp, added the sauce and heated through.Nice spicy sweet flavor.
bykalikaliente, October 26, 2007
the sauce was too sticky and very sweet, not balanced flavor, you can easily make this yourself by blanching green beens, then stirfrying them with a little hoisin sauce and chili paste, comes out better and you are able to control the sweetness from the hoisin
Never thought I'd consider calling something "better than sex green beans", but these are the best. I will figure out how to make them since the nearest Trader Joe's is 3 hours away.
