Beef Bulgogi

Tried both this product and the maui shortribs from the meat section of my local TJ's. Grilled on a propane grill for about 2 minutes per side, not much flavor cooked in this fashion. Might be better on the stovetop (cooked in it's own marinade). Maui ribs had more flavor--both products convenience factor is great, just fire up the grill and eat in minutes.

i thought the bulgogi (labeled "bool kogi") wasn't all that. i wasn't crazy about all the sesame seeds, plus the marinade was bland and needed a pinch of sugar to taste more authentic, and the meat wasn't sliced thinly enough. yes, it's convenient and it's definitely edible, but it's not nearly as good as the real thing. if you live near a korean market, most of them sell pre-marinated bulgogi in the refrigerated cases. if you must buy tj's, add more soy sauce and some sugar and cut it into smaller pieces (it'd be too hard to slice more thinly so i don't recommend trying that) and cook in the marinade on the stovetop until done. add mushrooms and sliced onions if desired during the cooking process.

if you ever ate korean bulgogi you know that this tastes nothing like it. it's not the right kind of meat. the flavor is totally off and it doesn't have sesame seeds. if you go to the korean market, you can find already marinated beef which is 100x's better than this - this is not it!

While it's true, the flavor isn't going make Korean BBQ loves swoon, I really like this meat for a quick dinner option for me and SO when we are craving meat. We have it with a bunch of brown rice and steamed veggies (And add our own real Korean Pear marinade) and it's a wonderful meal.
If you had the real stuff before, the TJ's version is nothing like it but it is still pretty good. Just like one of the reviewers said, I would add more soy sauce and sugar so that it would taste more authentic. This is definitely a quick easy meal though and if you do not live near a Korean market this is probably the best stuff to get then. Since I moved away after college I don't live near a Korean market, but a TJ's and I will buy this again but just tweek it a little.
Easy to make in they frying pan. A few minutes on each side. Cook throughly for best taste. Add brown rice and veggies.

Hmmm...well it may not be true bulgogi, but my wife and I thought it was still absolutely delicious. I added a small splash of Yoshida's gourmet sauce, then seared the meat quickly in a rocket-hot cast iron skillet and we put it on a large salad for a wonderful and fairly healthy dinner.

I highly recommend cooking these on the BBQ. Any other way prehaps other than stir frying gave an unsatisfactory result. But the BBQ.....delicious and so quick.....a minute or two on each side.
While this may not be the real deal according to some...it is an amazing alternative. For $5.00 you get a HUGE portion compared to the $40 entree you may get from a Korean restaurant. Furthermore, it only takes 5-7 minutes in the broiler. This is by far my favorite product from the joe.

come on, you don't buy a product at trader joe's because it's the most authentic thing you're ever going to eat. you buy it because it's better than what any other mainstream supermarket will offer, and at a great value.

I'm korean so I know what good, authentic bulgogi tastes like. I also know how hard bulgogi is to come by if you don't live close to a korean supermarket or don't want to shell out big bucks for restaurants. this, I think, is a fantastic product completely satiates my korean meat craving at such a small price.totally hits the spot.

tip: cut it into small pieces as the meat is cooking, and DON'T overcook. the meat will be more tender.
