Key Lime Pie

THE best tart/sweet key lime pie you can get your hands on! I keep it in my freezer until I need it... great for that last minute contribution to a gathering! I remove it from the pie tin on to a pretty plate, put some thin sliced limes on/around it and VOILA! Always a crowd pleaser!

I'm picky about desserts b/c I bake a lot- so me liking the key-lime pie was a big jump! It has the perfect amount of tartness, and great texture.

I had this a while back and it wasn't for me. It was so strong I couldn't take it. I'm not saying it is bad, just that it was too much for me. Just make sure you like you lime full strength.

terrible for you, but definitely one of my favorite desserts ever. I didn't even think I liked key lime pie before I had this.

I'm not sure if I just got a "bad batch", but the texture was grainy. I'm not talking about the CRUST, I mean the CUSTARD part... awful...

TJ's no longer sells Key Lime Pie. They discontinued carrying it just recently. The Reason was (they told me when I emailed them about it) because 1) it didn't sell very well, "Didn't move fast enough off the shelf" is how they put it. and 2) There were 'quality issues' with the supplier--this told to me by the local TJ's manager. I can't quite believe their first reason since almost everyone I know would kill for that KLP. The second reason, the quality issues, is more believable, especially after MaryContrary stated she got a sub standard pie. But, whatever the reason, TJs doesn't carry them anymore. SIGH. So, does anyone know of a comparable KLP carried by local grocers? And please do NOT suggest Edwards' Key Lime Pie Slices BLECH!

Does anyone have a recipe for a key lime pie that is like the one Trader Joes used to carry? I loved it and have tried 3 different recipes that were not that good.

this is the only REAL KLP I've found outside of FL. My Floridian friends were shocked at how good it was! We too would keep a few on hand in the freezer, all year, and at Christmas Eve, serve it for dessert after lobster. I just found out it is discontinued. I've never gotten a bad one in 10 years. I'm in New England where there are no other sources of a decent yellow true key lime pie.
Why can't they find another source or just bring this one back? It can't be that it doesn't sell.
