Spinach Tofu Eggrolls
These do not look or sound particularly appetizing, but boy are they surprisingly delicious! The crust is whole wheat and when baked according to directions gets really golden and crunchy and tastes so good, yet wholesome. The spinach and tofu filling is tasty and satisfying. All in all, I am really impressed by these eggrolls, so if it sounds like something you might like, definitely give them a try.

I absolutely love these. Their name does not give them justise. Definitely recommended.

ive been checking all over and looks like these are discontinued! do you know anywhere else that sells them?
I've been eating these bad boys oh-so-happily for at least a year. They are truly divine, although you'd never guess it from their appearance. Sadly, I have not seen them at my local TJs in over a month which leads me to believe that desperate times are upon us.

Yes, I have decided to try to make them myself. I have no idea what I'm doing. I have purchased eggroll wrappers, tofu & spinach. I figure with a little onion, garlic, etc. I might come up with something passable. If anyone has a label around and can tell me what the ingredients list says, I will be your new best friend! If the recipe turns out well, I'll post it here.

Wish me luck...

I asked a manager at my local tj's about the eggrolls and he said they were discontinued. does anyone know where else they are sold?

I bought these yesterday in Massachusetts. They were in the frozen section, not the dairy case as I previously categorized them. (I could swear that's where I found them last time!)

mintjulep: here goes!
Ingredients from the label:
stone-ground whole wheat flour, spinach, organic tofu (organic soybeans, water, citric acid), canola oil, casein (milk protein), sea salt, citric acid, soy lecithin, guar gum, olive oil, natural spices.

Ahh.... "natural spices" that one will be tough.

Let us know how it goes!

does anyone know if the ones on the whole food website are the same ones? Thx!
well, the home-made spinach tofu rolls came out tasty, but nothing like the Trader Joes real deal. I think next time I will try silken tofu to see if that helps the texture. I'll have to wing it on the natural spices!! we'll try again and keep you posted... still no sign of them at the Seattle area TJs. :(
Maybe they aren't sold in the West Coast stores? If so, that's a shame because they sound delish.

I haven't bought it in a while but I remeber seeing it recently. Bake according to directions and you'll be sitting with a great dinner. I ate the whole package for dinner, but you can do only 2-3 rolls (I think there are 6 in a pack). Put a little soy sauce and the frozen fried rice and you're golden! a really great product.
My boyfriend and I love these spinach egg rolls for so many reasons. They are lactose free, which is so wonderful, it means I can enjoy them too. They're delicious and filling. And I really appreciate the use of whole wheat dough. We always buy these two at a time. And, we're not even vegetarian. These are amazing!!!
I purchased these eggrolls at Trader Joes in St Louis Park, MN yesterday, 7-4-06. Have not tried them yet.

don't know what y'all are seeing now, but these aren't discontinued. they probably went away for package re-labeling - FDA rules require all products to have labeling info for trans fats as of January 2006, so TJ's has a lot of products temporarily out of stock b/c of this. take heart! they should be in your local store soon, if not there already!
the trader joe's in burbank, CA
has stopped carrying these great egg rolls
please bring them back
thanks

I buy these in Shrewsbury MA all the time - again, another great healthy dinner food the kids love. Goes great with many of the TJs sauces!

Oh my gord I heart these! P-:

...I thought that the filling was too runny, therefore the product was unappetizing. They tasted good, though, so I may try them again.

Word is that these are gone for good as of early winter. Maybe strong public outcry could bring them back. It has happened before with other products...and I agree that they were unbelievably yummy.

I have been to 2 Trader Joe's in my local area looking for any stragler packages left behind....and found NOT ONE! I confirmed that they have been discontinued. I think we need to start a campaign to get them back! I found mini-spinach & tofu eggrolls at Whole Foods. I haven't tried them yet. Will let you know.
I BAKED THESE AND THEY WERE THE BEST FROZEN ONES I EVER TASTED. EVEN BETTER THAN ANY ORDERVE'S. I AM GOING TO DEFINITELY TRY THEM AGAIN. VERY YUMMY!!!!! :-)
