Holiday Spice Chocolate Chip Rice Pudding
(0 vote)
I love dressing up homey, unassuming desserts like rice pudding.
Here is a very rich, spiced version for the holidays!
1 liter milk
1 cup cream
½ cup Trader Joe's arborio rice
¾ cup Trader Joe's organic brown sugar (I like dark, but it’s up to you)
1 tsp Trader Joe's vanilla paste
1 tablespoon orange zest, divided ( about 1 small orange)
3 tablespoons Trader Joe's Trade Winds No sugar Chai Mix
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
1 cup Trader Joe's semi-sweet chocolate chips
Put everything EXCEPT the chocolate chips and half the orange zest in a heavy-bottomed sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir frequently to prevent sticking or burning. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, and let simmer for about 30-45 minutes until the mixture becomes thick and creamy, and the rice is tender. Remove sauce pan from heat, and stir in remaining orange zest. Lastly, gently stir in the chocolate chips to create a streaky effect. Done! This is good either warm or chilled. Enjoy!
