Tempura Sweet and Sour Chicken
Finally! Trader Joe’s Tempura Sweet & Sour Chicken is MADE WITH ALL WHITE MEAT. I prefer white meat over higher fat dark meat (Mandarin Orange Chicken). Dark meat is good when freshly prepared and I can pick around to avoid all of the connective tissue, gristle and other undesirables.

Tempura Chicken made with succulent all-white meat cuts and is the perfect lower-fat meal. The kids love Tempura Chicken (chicken nuggets to them) and when paired with Trader Joe’s vegetable fried rice and Edamame, it is a great and nutritious meal for whole family. The marinated chicken is so moist and juicy with a crispy tempura “crunch” on the outside. The sauce is the right balance of sweet and sour zip. I have also tried with the jarred Mandarin Orange sauce so I can enjoy that flavor without buying the Mandarin Orange chicken (yea!)

Each package is a full pound of all-white meat tempura chicken with a pouch of sauce. Just preheat oven and bake 18-minutes. Use the baking time to make the side dishes mentioned above and dinner is served. Trader Joe’s Tempura Sweet & Sour Chicken was $5.99 at my local beach store. Buy 2-bags…you will serve this more then once a week.

I tried this and was happy to find it tastes like your average sweet and sour chicken. It did come with sauce, which was easy to defrost and I just poured it into a big bowl and put the cooked chicken in the bowl and stired together. I would certainly buy it again.

I made this last night and was quite impressed. For a frozen version of sweet and sour chicken it was really good. It's a cheaper and less fattening version of Chinese takeout.
I really, really like this, but it's hardly low fat - there are about 82 grams of fat per bag and the bag would feed three adults at most, unless you were mixing it into something like stirfry.

I LOVE that the meat is all white, but the sauce is missing something, and it isn't just in the quantity. Texture is different from usual products similar to this. Overall good, but I wouldn't stock my freezer.

It is pretty good but high in calories and doesn't taste good the next day.

Fast and tasty - but the orange chicken is still superior. :)
