Two Buck Chuck Spaghetti Sauce1 lb Trader Joe Sweet Italian Style Pork Sausage3/4 lb ground beef 1/2 minced onion 2 minced garlic cloves 1-28 oz can of Trader Joe Plum Tomatoes with Basil (undrained and crushed in blender) 1-15 oz can tomato sauce 1-6 oz can tomato paste 1/2 C Charles Shaw merlot or cabernet wine 2 T white sugar 1 tsp dried oregano 1.5 tsp dried basil 1 tsp dried thyme 1 T salt 1 tsp black pepper 2 T chopped fresh parsely In a large pot, cook sausage, ground beef, minced onion, minced garlic cloves till browned. Add plum tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and Charles Shaw merlot or cabernet wine. Season with sugar, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, black pepper and parsley (when in season, use fresh herbs!). We just returned from a 3 week tour of Europe, two of which we stayed over in Rome to visit my aunt. At restaurant after restaurant, my brother kept telling me, "Your spaghetti is way better than this!" LOL, if he only knew!!!! No way! I've never told him either!!!
This is an amazing recipe that takes only minutes to prepare. I'm embarrassed to say it all comes from cans but there's no lie when it comes to my brother. |
