Vanilla Marshmallows(13 votes)Rate this listing    Soft and with an almost meringue-like foamy texture, these marshmallows are worlds away from their previous efforts. They are not too sweet and have a very subtle vanilla flavor. In fact, if someone had told me they were “creme soda marshmallows” I think that I would have believed it. They’re not quite up to my favorite homemade marshmallows, of course, but the ingredient list reads almost exactly the same, so they’re pretty similar. The biggest difference is that they don’t seem to be quite as dense/firm as my homemade ‘mallows, although I suspect that all it will come to is that the marshmallows will melt faster in hot chocolate than mine. Otherwise, with 16 marshmallows in a package, they’re not a bad buy. They toast pretty well and I think I’d rather use them for summertime s’mores than regular store-bought marshmallows. I agree with Nicole concerning the first effort, the beyond horrible mint mallows in a tub. A wet, sodden, tub of foamy mouthwash. ::shudder::
These are MUCH better, but not so remarkable that I'd buy them in place of a good ole bag of campfire. If I had the patience to make candy I'd try making my own, but since I do not, I would not even make a repeat buy of these, at $3.99 for 16.
I have to agree, I didn't think these were anything special, and I wouldn't buy them again.
Just kind of plain. Won't buy again.

I have been looking for decent marshmallow options for everything from Smores to puffed rice treats that didn't contain high fructose corn syrup. These fit the bill perfectly. They are to far superior to regular supermarket quality marshmallows that I have several packages of these in my freezer, just in case TJ's discontinues and our family has an impromptu camp fire. Pair them with the cinnamon graham crackers and some dark chocolate and YUM!
