Spinach Pie(51 votes)Rate this listing This was pretty good for a low fat meal. I could tell it was low fat because it wasn't as cheesy tasting, but for the calories, it was worth it. The filo crust was wonderful, but I baked it in the oven, so I don't know how it would have turned out in the microwave. Along with a salad, it makes a good light meal. I liked this spinach pie, but it was not quite cheesy enough for me either. I get it occasionally because it is decent, a good value and right there in the frozen aisle, but it can be made better.

Maybe it's because I have a gas stove, but the filo came out chewy and weird. Crust just wasn't right.
Cheesy would have made it better. TJ's Spanakopitas were the same way for me. Not recommended. byBertaf, October 6, 2006
I like this Spinach Pie but you have to be willing to cook the entire package. What I like much more is TJ's Spanokopita product that contains 12 pieces. Each piece has 2g of fat. I can pop as many as I wish in the toaster over and they are ready in 10 minutes.
I didn't think it was too lacking in cheesy-ness. Just right for me, actually. I wasn't a huge fan of the filo though. For the calories, it wasn't bad. One piece (4 total) was about 240(?) calories, and was enough for a light meal. Plenty of calcium, protein, fiber and iron, too...but it's spinach and cheese, so I guess that's expected :P

I agree, just the right amount of cheese - depends on taste.
We thought this was OK.
The crust cooked a little weird but the flavor was good! bygeekbearinggifts, May 20, 2008
I buy them for myself, as my husband isn't a fan of cooked spinach. It makes a great lunch, or light dinner with a cucumber and tomato salad and some fruit. I like the light and crispy filo crust, which comes out the same for me whether cooked in a gas or electric oven. After lifting the corner to vent, I flex the lid a bit so the lid doesn't touch the crust. I follow the directions about removing the lid at the end of the cooking time to brown and crisp the crust some more.

My husband and I thought this was great. We ate it with marinara sauce and parm cheese.
