Bean Chips - 2007/07/06 00:06 Waaaaaaaahhhhhh! The tastiest chips in the universe are discontinued -- Bean Chips made with pinto beans. There is a rumor that the Spicy Bean Chips made with black beans are also gone. Please join me in writing to have these returned. These products were often missing from the shelves in Portland because of being sold out.

Re:Bean Chips - 2007/07/11 19:41 My company was the manufacturer for the TJ’s Bean chips for over 12 years. First off, I would like to personally thank everyone for purchasing our products. I would also like to thank TJ’s for being such a great company. I wish all my customers were of this caliber. I know there are a great number of people out there that would like to know where they can purchase the bean chips so I’ll list some of our retail outlets. We manufacture our products under the “El Rancho” label. They are El Rancho Black Bean and Garlic Chips and El Rancho Black Bean and Jalapeno Chips. The only difference is the TJ’s Bean chips were made with Pinto beans, other than that the formulas are the same. The retail stores that are carrying our products are, Henry’s Marketplace, Von’s Pavilion (IN THE DELI SECTION), How’s market in San Gabriel, CA, Howies in San Gabriel, CA, Julienne’s in San Marino, CA (a great place to eat too)
If you are unable to find them or you don’t live in the Southern CA region we can ship via Fed Ex. At this time we can only ship in case quantities. A case consists of 12-7oz. bags. We can be reached at (800) 327-2572. Thanks again, La Vencedora Products Inc.
P.S. I am checking with my distributor in the Portland area to find out where he sells them. I will get back to you…

Re:Bean Chips - 2007/07/13 03:42 Thank you so much for the response! I will definitely watch for you to post a Portland location, and short of that, I will order by phone. You have made my day!

Re:Bean Chips - 2007/07/13 18:49 Folks in the Washington, Oregon areas can find the chips under the Rabeanya Brand. They are sold in Thriftway, New Season’s Market, Zupans, and some Fred Meyer Nutrition Centers.

I am in Portland, Oregon and I can confirm that these are available at Fred Meyer Nutrition Centers.

My question for you Greg, though, is regarding the ratio of black beans to corn masa and sesame in the mix. I know this is probably proprietary info but just a hint would help me.

I ask this because I try to stick to a low glycemic index/load diet and being able to calculate the glycemic index of your product depends on the amount of black beans that are actually in the chips. Most brands just put black bean "flakes" in their black bean chips which just makes very little sense to me.

In any case these are probably my favorite chip I have ever eaten and regardless of the answer you give I can almost guarantee that I will have a bag in my kitchen for the rest of my days. they are that good.

please give me some good news greg.

thanks in advance.

Re:Bean Chips - 2007/09/13 19:21 Hi Sam,
Thank you for the great post.
You are correct the formula ratios are a trade secret. I wish I could be of more help, but unfortunately we do not disclose that type of information.
Please feel free to call me if you have any other questions. (800) 327-2572
Many years ago we found by cooking and grinding our own beans gave us a much better chip. It added a few additional steps to the process but we felt it was well worth the effort.
Thanks again for the post!
Greg
