Chicken sausage? - 2009/03/09 21:53 I'm looking for a replacement for regular grocery store pork or turkey sausage. I looked in my local TJs but all I saw was chicken sausage as well as some meatless sausage. Has anyone tried this chicken sausage? What about the meatless? Does it taste anything like regular pork or turkey sausage? I'm particularly interested in the meatless because it's the tube kind and around various special occasions I use a tube of sausage to make dips and such... but I'd hate to buy and make it and it turn out tasting nothing like regular sausage.

Re:Chicken sausage? - 2009/05/16 17:46 TJ's has lots of chicken sausage varieties and I'm trying all of them. Obviously I like what I'm tasting. All $3.99 with 4-5 links per package.

So far the buy-agains are Chicken Mango Sausage, Smoked Andouille Chicken Sausage, Sweet Italian Style Chicken Sausage, Smoked Chicken Apple Chardonnay Sausage, and Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage.

A couple I won't bother with because the flavor tasted neutral (but not bad): Sweet Bell Pepper Onion Chicken Sausage, Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken Sausage.

I don't know what turkey sausage tastes like, and pork sausage's taste has a lot to do with the spices used; andouille doesn't taste like breakfast sausage. Try some yourself, it's not expensive - all varieties are $3.99 with 4-5 links per package.

Meatless sausage: I haven't seen the kind you're describing. The local TJ's carries Morningstar Farms meatless sausage patties (love 'em) and meatless sausage links (taste OK, texture not pleasing), both frozen; I don't know if you could use either the way you describe.

Re:Chicken sausage? - 2009/10/03 00:26 Trader Joes Chicken sausage is unlike any other substitute sausage you may have tried in the past. I find it is most like a true pork sausage in flavor and texture. Hubby is a fussy eater and would scarf up any of the chicken sausage and comment how this was the best sausage I ever bought. Then I would tell him well that good since it is good for you too. Trafer Joes has become his favorite grocery store:)

Re:Chicken sausage? - 2009/11/05 18:10 Still a fan of the TJ chicken sausage - now a breakfast standard. I'll cut up an andouille sausage and add to the scrambled eggs.
