Organic Brown Rice - - 2008/03/06 21:30 So I have a bit of a beef with the organic brown rice....don't get me wrong I love the stuff but Recently I've been eating it a lot more in order so shed some much needed LBS'.
So I look at the nutritional info and it says 6 servings per container and the amount of cals per serving is 160. Each serving is approx. 1 cup.

So 6 servings, there are 3 packages so 2 cups per package so if I only eat 1/2 cup per mean then I should have 4 servings per plastic package.....

Well guess what?!? Yah, I know you're going to be shocked but there are only 1 1/2 cups per package and it's a slim 1 1/2 to boot.

I think looked a little closer at the servings and it says 1 cup (5oz/142g)...now the last time I checked I was pretty sure that 8oz made up a cup. The grams/oz seems to match up so why not the cups? So They are steering us wrong on the nutritional information.

To say I'm a little peeved would be an understatement (but I'm sure I'll somehow manage to muddle through and eat it again

Re:Organic Brown Rice - - 2008/03/09 19:29 you listed the serving as 1c (5oz/42g). Remember there's a difference in volume and dry weight. If you measured 8 oz of water and 8 oz of rice the weight or cup measurement would be different. 8 fluid oz is equal to 1 cup in volume whereas 8 oz dry weight is roughly around 1 1/2 cups. I'll double check the weight on the box, but hopefully this helps

Re:Organic Brown Rice - - 2008/03/20 22:22 Okay that might make sense, but it still doesn't make any sense that the package states 1 serving is equal to 1 cup (and since it's on the package I would say they mean 1 cup of rice, not water) and yet when measured out each package only contains 1.5 cups leaving us 1.5 cups short on the entire box or 1/2 cup short per package.....
