Re:Arsenic in TJ's chicken - 2006/06/21 19:56 You are absolutely right. Arsenic is actually very NATURAL since it's the 33rd chemical element, and you could probably even call it ORGANIC, since it is sponatenously present in nature. It is though a very potent poison, reason why it is used as pesticide, herbicide, insecticide and other surely useful but nonetheless very toxic applications.
The issue, as with many other toxic substances, is QUANTITY and the fact that many people - aware or not - consume it every day doesn't make it any more palatable to me.

Fact is that big industrial-type producers of chicken can do without adding arsenic; I would expect Trader Joe's, that tries to be as chemical and preservative-free as possible (a choice that I completely support) to do the same.
