Re:Sandpoint, Idaho - 2007/11/26 23:27 It's just too small. TJ's requires a much larger population to be viable than Starbucks does. Even in California, on their home turf, TJ's tends to stay in the larger cities. Here's a list of urban areas in California which are larger than all of Bonner County and don't have a Trader Joe's:

El Centro
Hanford
Hemet
Lodi
Lompoc
Madera
Manteca
Merced
Porterville
Redding (OK, so they've got one in the works)
Salinas
Tracy
Turlock
Vacaville
Vallejo
Victorville
Visalia
Watsonville
Yuba City

The demographics of a city (income, education, etc.) play a role, but so does size. Spokane's urban area is over 300,000, so it's the best bet for the region.

Re:Sandpoint, Idaho - 2007/11/27 05:17 Shouldn't this post be moved to "request a store in your town"?

Re:Sandpoint, Idaho - 2007/12/07 00:14 Since I make a trip once a month to Portland or Seattle, specifically for my TJ's run, a long ways is relative. I've been on a Trader Joe's campaign here in Boise since 1996. I have never received a response as to WHY they won't come here. We are getting a Whole Foods but I want Trader Joe's as do a few thousand people here! What can one do???

Re:Sandpoint, Idaho - 2007/12/10 07:13 all you can really do is be persistent with requesting/suggesting on the TJ's website and be patient
