 TJ's is (finally!) coming to Pittsburgh, PA - 2006/03/01 00:22 I visited the store in Woodmere (Cleveland) earlier today and several employees told me that Trader Joe's will open this August in Shadyside, near Whole Foods.

 Re:TJ's is (finally!) coming to Pittsburgh, PA - 2006/03/18 14:34 This is definitely good news! A friend and I are making the trek to Cleveland in a couple weeks and we will inquire again. Doesn't hurt to give a gentle nudge now and again. I think the site choice is interesting, but I can't quite figure out where in Shadyside it will be.

 Re:TJ's is (finally!) coming to Pittsburgh, PA - 2006/03/26 21:07 This is great news...No more two hour drives to the Cleveland store. I'm crossing my fingers it is in the small Giant Eagle on Centre at Craig that just closed. It is in Oakland very near Shadyside/East Liberty lines. The store is a perfect size with a decent sized parking lot.

 Re:TJ's is (finally!) coming to Pittsburgh, PA - 2006/03/31 13:43 As I was driving around town yesterday, I noticed that a new building is being build at Centre and Morewood and that the Giant Eagle on Centre and Craig aka "Dirty Bird" is now closed. That could make sense to put on there, but it would need a ton of renovation and they don't fit with the idea of a suburb. A friend suggested that they might be looking at Robinson or even near South Hills Village.
I was also thinking that it could be somewhere in the North Hills.

I am going to TJ's tomorrow. I will inquire about the store and post my results.

 Re:TJ's is (finally!) coming to Pittsburgh, PA - 2006/04/02 15:54 I have confirmation of I_Heart_Trader_Joes' information of TJ's coming to Shadyside. The cashier at the Woodmere store said yesterday that there is indeed a store coming and it will be near Whole Foods, because "We like to be near Whole Foods." He suggested that more information may be forthcoming this week in the company employee newsletter. He also said that there might be another store coming to a different area of Pittsburgh as well. His understanding is that they had looked at two locations.

Well, I am off to eat my cat shaped chocolate cookies for breakfast. :)
