Re:Great Wines at TJ - 2009/06/29 01:25 I like the Pont du Rhone also. Once we get pass the plastic bottle and screw cap (glass and cork shortage in Europe), it is a great wine. It's like a light Merlot. Pont du Rhone is not an investment wine, but a wine that we can enjoy without degradation within a year or two.

Definitely try the Pont du Rhone! It's not selling so good at my local TJ's and I'd like to promote it so they'll keep getting more. I was a little scared of the plastic bottle, but hey, for 5.99 (in SoCal anyway) I'll try any wine once. Don't let the bottle fool you. It's good, honest French table wine, the sort of thing you'd drink with pizza, burgers, red-sauce pasta, or conversation with friends. Nice black cherry with notes of cedar, cassia, and a hint of chocolate and oak. Air it out a little first.

And, they manage to get a whole liter in that regular-size bottle. So what's not to like?
